As if carved in stone

This image was inspired by the Renoir sculpture of a Danaïd, left half in, half out of stone. Renoir’s model was his lover and fellow sculptor of genius, Claudel.As Michelangelo put it, “Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it.”
